Fac vs 12lb

Just wondering what the real life difference is between a 12lb gun and an fac gun ...
does the extra power come at a cost of accuracy..
and how much extra effective range would you get from an fac over a 12pounder 8-)

It allows a .22 to have a similar trajectory as a .177. The maximum I would shoot the FAC one is about 60 yards.

As above, .22 with a similar if not flatter trajectory than a .177
As for hunting distance you can shoot accurately out to 100 yards if you put the practice in and only from a bipod.
At 100 yards many fac Air Rifles are still retaining 12ft/lb.
Even with a 12ft/lb .177 you can get clean kills out to 80 yards if you're competent.
Yesterday I took a magpie cleanly at 80 yards with my s400f .177 using Jsb Heavies 10.4 grain pellets, not a head shot but through the vital organs. Did a backflip and was dead before hitting the ground.

aye up ray hows things ?
i had a .22 on ticket years ago running at 24 ft/lbs. it gave exactly the same trajectory performance as my .177 s400, but with a bit more wallop. even with the extra wallop, it didnt kill stuff any more dead than my sub 12 .177
i often hear people say .177 is a waste of time at fac levels, but a mate of mine had one running at around 17 ft/lbs if my memory serves well. the only thing i can say is wow, it was an absolute death laser for rabbits 8-) he reckoned that much above 17 ft/lbs in .177, the pellets started to get unstable. was certainly accurate at 17

I’m all good thanks. I got a 410 extra in .22 as I thought it would buck the wind a little bit better. Certainly haven’t killed any more or better than the sub 12. I ended up taking game to the 60 yard mark and not much further.
Really it’s a wasted slot on my ticket but it’s always good to have if I need to fill it for something new.

in fairness ray, i used to really enjoy shooting mine, and it did give extra, usable range if needed 8-)
