does the extra power come at a cost of accuracy..
and how much extra effective range would you get from an fac over a 12pounder

aye up ray hows things ?Blackbaronfish wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 5:26 pmIt allows a .22 to have a similar trajectory as a .177. The maximum I would shoot the FAC one is about 60 yards.

in fairness ray, i used to really enjoy shooting mine, and it did give extra, usable range if neededBlackbaronfish wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 10:23 amI’m all good thanks. I got a 410 extra in .22 as I thought it would buck the wind a little bit better. Certainly haven’t killed any more or better than the sub 12. I ended up taking game to the 60 yard mark and not much further.
Really it’s a wasted slot on my ticket but it’s always good to have if I need to fill it for something new.

aye up tony, yeah once pellets go north of 900fps they start becoming unstable. the .177 doing 17 ft/lbs was a laser, but iirc he only got about 15 usable shots. my .22 was 24 ft/lbs mainly for shot count reasons, the fact that it was accurate, had a sweet spot starting at 760 peaking at 770 and back to 760 over 20 shots, and gave the same trajectory as my s400 sub 12 .177 was a bonus matetonyc wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 8:12 pmMaximum velocity while retaining accuracy is usually reckoned to be around 920-950fps. This puts maximum useful power levels at about 16-18ft lb in .177 and 32-36ft lb in .22 depending on pellet weight. I can't tell you from personal experience but, theoretically, you should be able to get about 20% more range with fac than you'd get from a .177 shooting 8.44gr pellets at 770-780fps.
To get the same trajectory as a .177 you need about twice as much power in .22.
very decent figures there rayBlackbaronfish wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 6:24 amI am getting 40 shots with a lane regulator fitted and running at 32
