Air leaking

Thu Sep 03, 2020 3:10 pm

His All,
New to the forum as new to Air Arms.
Picked an S200 up yesterday, had air in it, so today put 30 or so .177 pellets through it.
Ran out of air.
So connected the T filling adaptor, coked gun, opened the valve on the top of the filling bottle, with the bleed screw closed.
Gauge goes up to 190-200 bar region.
BUT
air is leaking straight through the gun and out of the barrel.

Am I doing something wrong?
Or as advised by a well known shop in Raleigh Essex "the gun has major problems and you are looking at £140 plus parts to repair"
Help a new boy if possible, as have gone to pcp after an smk 78 keeps falling apart.

Thanks Phil

Think I may have solved my own problem
Removed the air cylinder and it filled OK, so it was the firing pin holding it open.
Think the pin had stuck in the fire position as it had cycled on a cylinder with no air in.
So message to all keep a rough shot count and refill the cylinder before it is empty.

I don't know the S200 but the S4/5xx series, if you empty the cylinder completely, you need to cock the trigger to take the hammer away from the firing valve when you fill otherwise the firing valve may not close. It takes up to 50bar in the cylinder to hold the valve shut.

Interesting to note that the shop wanted to charge £140 to do what looks like nothing 🤔
Or am I reading to much into this ?
Doesn't sound good, does it ?

The minute he thought he could see a profit for doing nothing, I bet it would have gone out theback for half an hour and cost me £150 plus to do what I did. They may offer a lifetime service on new guns bought from them, but like many shops get a bit greedy when they think you have little or no knowledge.
I sorted the problem by sitting down with a cup of tea and studying the parts list to see the chain of the rifeing sequence.
