NIGHT VISION v.2

Wed May 06, 2020 1:28 pm

Hello all,
Need some advice as the web is a mare as there's 23 billion opinions.!

I have the permission to shoot rats at night but i need a night vision lens, i was told to look at this one here - https://www.uttings.co.uk/p130866-atn-x ... rK6ZZ5KhhF

What do you think, does it actually work at night ?

Lot of money just for rats, old Yukon Photon would do the job, or for that matter torch with a red lens, or in my case, ordinary torch and a red toffee wrapper covering it, don't laugh it works 😎

Yep, it sure does work :) I shot rats for years using a torch with a strawberry quality street wrapper on the end.
And before anyone asks I used a rifle as well  in fact I think it was two wrappers not one.

appreciate the info, i used to use red plastic wrappers over lamping torch for rabbits at night.
But thought about treating myself, now i can buy something else like a new rod or pole.!
So i'll get a torch mounted ontop of my scope

If within 20 yards then I prefer a red torch as it dosen't seem to spook them. They will eventually get wise to it but in the meantime it seems to work fine.

I use a torch. I cut a red filter to size with a hole from a 50x50x3mm sample of acrylic sheet bought on ebay for not much more than the cost of postage. Works fine... they don't get used to it when they're dead! ;)

i use a cheapo aldi night vision for spotting, then lamp on just for the shot ;)
keeps their learning about red lights to a minimum.
as tony said above, they dont get used to it when they're dead
