Can anyone tell me if the standard QTec silencer vents into the shroud on a S510 carbine where the silencer fits on the shroud? And is the short QTec the same?
To be clear, I'm not talking about the S510 Ultimate Sporter where the silencer is fitted on the barrel - I know this doesn't vent to the shroud.

Re: QTec silencer - S510 carbine
As I understand it, the S510 shroud extends around 4 inches beyond the muzzle, so screwing a mod to the end of the shroud still leaves an expansion chamber beyond the muzzle to allow flow back through the shroud. Because the mod is screwed the shroud it has to have a male thread.

Yes Tony the standard QTec does vent back down the shroud and vents through the holes where the shroud reaches the action. I think it acts as an air stripper as well and probably causes some of the sound to go down the shroud so if hunting the quarry is less aware of where the shot came from. I'm thinking rat shooting where there may be more than one rat in an area so less chance of frightening the others away.
I have .177 and .22 standard QTecs and both work as described. When I first bought a s510 with a QTec fitted I thought there was a problem.
I've never had a short QTec in my hands but I'm sure it will work the same way.
