Unusual behaviour

Sat Nov 09, 2019 6:17 pm

Hi all
For a while now I have had a sparrowhawk taking birds in the garden and this morning i saw it get a starling. Nothing new in that. It took the starling under some low growing conifers and was not disturbed at all so it ate its fill. However about 5 hours later it came back and took the remainder of the bird away. I am sure it was the same hawk, but have never seen 1 return to a kill so long after killing.
Does anyone know if this is normal.

Maybe later hunts were unsuccessful and it remembered there was a meal left from earlier.
