Bell Target Shooting

Tue Dec 04, 2018 7:37 pm

I was recently introduced to bell target shooting recently and I love it.
It might sound like a stupid question but how easy is it to "de-tune" a TX200 to about 6ft/lbs and how will it behave? I know a lot of the guys use a classic FWB/Anschutz type side lever but they are harder and harder to get hold of a good example. If not a TX then what else? I have considered the S200 Target (I already have a S410 so filling it is no problem) just the limited shot count and running out mid match.
The HW 57/77/97 is also a contender but I doubt that it would be valued over an Air Arms on here......

How many shots do you need for a Bell match? The S200 Target and S400 MPR Sporter (or Precision if you want 10m too) are 5 ftlb and certainly the S400 will usually give 75 or more shots in the sweet range, 120 to 180 bar

Not sure to be honest, each round is 6 shots and we normally have a few "warmup" rounds before the actual scoring rounds. We often have a "play time" at the end where we try to put the flame out on a candle, light a match, or a speed round, 60 seconds to get as many rounds onto the target with highest score winning - a trade off between speed and accuracy.
My son will also share it, so we could quite easily reach 100 during the night. I thought that I had read somewhere that the shot count of the S200 was more than that due to the lower power output...

Yes, I think the S200 claims 120 shots from the low power target version.

Our local club is about to try out some bell target as a new discipline, but few people have suitable rifles. I also wonder whether the S200 is the most suitable budget option. Can't help feeling that a cheap, break barrel type may not have the accuracy and will have a short sight base (length of barrel only), so would require cobbling together new sights based on the scope rail... What worries me is that if the competition doesn't take off I might find a low pwer rifle difficult to sell.

As it is built as a 10m target rifle with open sights I'm struggling to find anything better without spending £1000's 120 shots sounds ok,
