TX200 trigger problem?

Fri Mar 27, 2015 4:58 pm

Hi all,

I stripped, polished and re-lubed my TX200 HC this afternoon. I didn't disassemble the trigger unit, but when I put the rifle back together the trigger wouldn't latch.

Any ideas all you bright people?

Thanks

Have you tried latching the trigger out of the rifle?

I thought about doing that, but didn't want to start poking things into the trigger unit without knowing what I'm doing.

How do I do it?

Thanks

Use a screwdriver or allen key carefully or the piston rod. Make sure the trigger is tripped because I think the safety "on" can prevent latching. Next step on the TX I believe is to check the cocking shoe.

I've tried latching the trigger out of the rifle, by inserting a rod where the piston rod would go, but without success. Or, I wasn't pushing hard enough. I'm guessing that I don't need to push excessively hard?

However, If I push the upper sear upwards from in front of the trigger, and then lever the middle sear forwards from the rear, the trigger latches, the safety pops out, and the trigger functions as it should.

Bearing in mind that I haven't touched the trigger assembly, other than removing it from the action, I'm a little baffled.

It takes a surprising amount of force to cock the trigger. I'm no expert on triggers but there can only really be 2 causes, trigger unit or loss of length on the cocking stroke. Have another go at latching the trigger out of the gun, that will rule out a mechanical defect at that end.

Further thought, is it possible to fit the cocking shoe the wrong way round?

Thanks TT,

I'll give latching the trigger another go.

Yes, I think the cocking shoe can be fitted the wrong way round, but the cocking link won't fit.

I managed to get the trigger to latch out of the rifle, and yes, it took quite a shove.

The trigger now latches OK in the rifle, but it takes an extra tug to engage the safety.

Well done! that extra tug is common on Prosports, less so on TX 200s.
