S200 Trigger. Help it's driving me madder.

Mon Jan 23, 2017 10:41 am

After putting it off for a long time I decided to have another go at improving the trigger.
My version has only 3 screws in the tigger rail.
Starting at the muzzle end,
A) Small scew.
B) Medium.
C) Medium.
All are backed out and the 200 won't fire. Whats my next move?
The diagrams and instructions I have looked at refer to 4 grub screws in the rail which is causing my simple mind much confusion.

Right! Got it working and its safe.
It's not great and I suspect sears and other bits need replacing.
I am seeing a gunsmith over another matter this week so will see what he thinks.
Thanks for the assist.

Until replacing any trigger parts you may try some tuning yourself.

I did polish - and this means polish not grinding - the sears on the contacting surfaces awa the top of stage-1 and -2 set screws.
Polished the side faces, pins and pin-bores too.
Further shimmed lateral play with some cut-outs of film-negatives.
Finally lightly lubed with MoS2-grease.

Finally set up the trigger to my likes.
Here some instructions how-to-do:

I have a safe nice two stage trigger now with a perfect let-off.

If polishing the screws, it may be best if you could get a sharp radius as below, I did mine rough on a rotating drill mounted sanding disc and finished it off on a rotating oil stone. :)
Long arm allen key, blue tack between the key and the grub screw .... feed the screw against the abrasive and swivel the screw while feeding against the direction of rotation.

Thanks Raj.
I could do the screws but don't fancy getting all the guts out.
The expression ' I only wanted you to blow the bladdy doors off ' could well apply to me.

BTW my trigger hasn't got that 4th scew marked D on that links diagram.

You can do the crew domes without getting anything out. Just pull out one screw at a time, polish a dome on the end and return. If you lived nearer, you could have popped round and I would do it for you with pleasure.
As for the Screw 'D' it is nice to have so that the trigger comes up against a definite stop but the set up will work just as well without it. ;)

Here are the shiny new ends on you screws, Rob. The trigger is now as crisp as a poppadom at your local Indian 8-)
