Hi mate
To elaborate on what's already been said. When HFT first reared it's head it was as an alternative target sport to FT, which had become more specialised in its equipment, so HFT was devised which made using FT kit a negative, allowing normal kit (compared to ft) the kit needed (yes we can also talk about cost of kit/type ect in HFT over the years but that's another topic). The H in HFT is to differentiate it from FT, people seem to focus on the H for hunting while completely ignoring the FT part of HFT.
So basically HFT was never envisioned as a hunting sim/trainer and still isn't, even SARC isn't a hunting sim despite its rules compared to HFT, of course HFT rules varie wildly but none can (let alone have been designed as) be called a hunting sim.
I can understand why you feel you are poking a wasp nest, but don't worry we don't bite....... much. HFT shooters can get a bit touchy but that's usually because it can feel like you're beating your head against a brick wall with some people on this subject and it's something that keeps coming up.
*a little rant not aimed at you mate.
It's a myth that just won't die, I'll have conversations with people at the club about it, I'll explain why it isn't a sim and go into the origins of HFT and yet they won't have it.... it can be maddening. It's mainly from people outside of HFT but even some who shoot HFT don't have a clue.
I've read a mag where someone writes in complaining about HFT being irresponsible in its way it teaches people to hunt, which is bad enough but the mags response was to basically nod it's head in agreement....... it beggars belief.
*mini rant over.
