Have had a good couple of days catching up with friends at the show. The Air apArms team, The Rowan boys, etc. Oh and also bumped into Paul ( Granvile) and has a good chinwag. It was great to see you Paul

Had a few shots with the Galahad,which was interesting. And generaly chilled out.

I drove up to the show on Friday, it's the first time I've been since 2013 and to be honest, didn't think that it was the same great show that it has been in the past. Don't get me wrong, I had an enjoyable day, there were many products to see and handle and I met up with e few old friends, but there certainly did not seem to be the bargains of years before there. I managed to get a very nice barrel rest for £40, a saving of £20 but little else grabbed my attention bargain wise. The Cheshire Gun Room were there, but the 'show discount' prices they were charging for the air rifles and air pistols they had were more than the normal price you would pay at the Sportsmans Gun Centre. Stalls were advertising 'show specials' across the board, but a quick check on sites like Uttings on my smartphone revealed that they weren't bargains at all - in many cases the show prices were more than the price I could buy goods for elsewhere. I'm a big fan of Ronnie Sunshines and hailing from Berkhamsted where they started, I have bought much from them over the years. However, their stall at the show was devoid of anything of interest: a standard selection of rifles mounted on boards, a few decent offers on gun slips, but not a lot of anything else to see walk away with. I was half tempted by a couple of the items being displayed by Highland Outdoors, but they weren't retailing anything and they seemed to think that traders at the show were carrying their products for purchase, which wasn't the case. I got a good buy on the 5.11 stand after negotiating with the staff there, a nice range bag. Deals on the Best Fittings stand were dependent on who you were served by: I had to pay the asking price for a 1 metre hose for my air bottle, only to find an hour later that my mate had been sold the same hose by a different member of staff for the price of the 0.6 metre hose. Bit poor really.

Kit wise, I saw and handled some great new products. The FX Impact was interesting, but not my cup of tea. I loved the Daystate Pulsar, I thought that it was a great bit of kit, although a little on the heavy side and far too expensive for what it is. I'd consider owning one if it was a reasonable price. I handled the Galahad, to be honest I didn't think that it was a patch on the Pulsar quality and feel wise. I put a 32 pellet magazine through one of the new Sig Sauer semi auto MPX rifles, thought it was a nice concept but again, not my thing.

Overall, some great kit on display at the show, but genuine bargains were few and far between. I wont be going next year.

Did you have a look at UK Shoot Warehouse Ray. They had the Hammond Quad Pod. This is without Doubt the best option when it comes to shooting sticks. The best available on the market tbh.
I've tried them all from home made versions even home made quad sticks to the various other makes available. I've got to say they are not cheap at around £160 but i use these for all my field shooting. I use them for Rabbit Shooting and all my stalking. You can effectively shoot good groups from these as they provide the most stable platform of anything else i've ever used. Heres the link WWW.Hammondsporting.co.uk
We had a good weekend at the show and i spent more than i was expecting A new pigeon flapper and battery, various bits of reloading gear, a new Caldwell range bag, some new shooting glasses and numerous other bits and pieces. Paid the boys on Scott Country a visit as i fancy one of their barrel mounted cameras. £99 but none in stock at the moment. A great weekend as always though
