Well I live in the Midlands and the rain only stops me shooting when the fields are boggy. Lately I can't stop thinking about folk that are flooded out.

Has the floods effected any of our members?

Let's hope that the rain stops and the money for flood defences come in and spent in the right places. Someone said its all the migrants we have that's too heavy and sinking us .

My heart goes out too the family's that have suffered flooding and lost everything and a lot of them have no insurance
Even more wont be able too get insurance again

Pissed down all day here, still coming down now and it don't look like owt is going to change for the next few days.

My workshop/garage is prone to flooding but only when we get that real torrential rain where it hammers it down and is gone as quick as it came. The drains are just overcome and it comes in via the back door and exits via the front! Never happened from the place being built in 1984 up until 2005, it's happened three times since then.

For many of the proper fllod hit places it was a once in a lifetime thing, poor buggers get it every year now. It must be hard o come back from when its your third and fourth time of being hit. It's a sign of modern day weather I think, and the only way forward is bigger and better flood defences.

I had a wry grin to myself t'other day when our Ryan handed me his phone.......

It's bloody awful.

But, doesn't private ownership of water supplies and cancelling drain clearance for profit have something to do with it?

I always believed we kept channels and ditches clear to run water into reservoirs and rivers.

I drove down the A361 over the river Parrett yesterday afternoon, the water is already a few inches up the new flood defences. Great, they're working!
Oh hang on, no they're not because the walls don't go far enough and the water is coming round the ends!

problem is that seems to be their only thought, build more walls, try bloody clearing the choke points (like they used to do, does it not tell the stupid sods something when flooding was not nearly so severe intil they changed their policy)

They did start dredging after the last floods but only did five miles near the top of the river, it may have helped but the real problem is lower down where the silt build up over the years has reduced the potential volume of the lower part of the river, it's a massive tidal flow coming in twice every day, like trying to pour a pint into a milk bottle when it's already half full.
