I was sitting thinking about what I don't like on modern airrifles.
My big bug bear has to be Allen screws used rather than traditional pins to hold actions together. More so maybe the use of Allen bolts to hold actions to stock's .
Its all too easy to over torque Allen bolts if your not carefully. Slotted pins tend to give more feel when tightening and I think just look better.
Ah and it bugs the tits off me when stippling is refered to as checkering, come to that I'm not keen on English flat top checkering but that's not really an issue with airrifles .
Any one else got any dislikes?
Cheers Kevin

Anti tamper on pcp,s, Air arms let me tinker with my prosport, but fit anti tamper to my s400 so i cant adjust the power to stay legal, allen bolts are fine in my book and overtightening them is just poor workmanship (sorry)

Re: What do you dislike about modern air rifles.
as abuve anti tamper and price

I would always prefer Allen Screws rather than a slotted head. Its been said, over tightening is poor workmanship.

Anti tamper! Very good point I'm not sure how I missed that one. Yup AT has to be the big one.
I think I must see a dozen or so stripped threads a year to repair and I'd say 99% are Allen bolts. Sadly a lot of people that own rides are not good on doing up screws, its just a fact of modern life.
I work restoring steam traction engines now but I did my apprenticeship as a tool maker. Over the last few years I have been doing a fair number of repairs on both air rifles and shotguns. Its incredible the mess ups that come in to be put right.
Mind you I do enjoy the work.

I think that in general modern air rifles are superb.(maybe not Daystate
)
My biggest gripe is how CUSTOMERS are treated as idiots (by the industry in general, including the mags) and the fitting of AT that stops you complying with the law.
