Valve stem

Where would air leak from if the valve stem on the s410 was knackered

As above, if you want to test it put a balloon or the finger of a latex glove over the end of the barrel and secure it with a bit of tape or an elastic band. See if it blows up.
The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second one mouse that gets the cheese.
