Lawrence loved exploring the middle east. He once walked 1100 miles in three months across mountains and deserts in order to get an insight into Arab life.

In the film - Lawrence of Arabia, the scenes where Peter O'Toole comes off his motorbike were shot at the largest National Nature Reserve in the south-east, Chobham Common.

In 1921, the future Prime Minister Winston Churchill became Colonial Secretary and employed Lawrence as an advisor on Arab affairs. The two men grew to admire each other and became lifelong friends.

At the time, Lawrence of Arabia was such an unknown figure that even the Turks, who had a bounty on his head, did not know what he looked like.

Lawrence left an unusual legacy when he designed a set of stamps for the Grand Sharif of Mecca.

If you add up all the numbers from 1 to 100 consecutively (1+2+3...) it totals 5050.
