Re: which is the best Air Arms rifle?
IMO Best one is ... "the one you are about to buy ..."
AA FTP900, AA HFT500, AA S510, FWB-800FT

Daystate Huntsman Regal .22
HW98 .177
SMK PP700W .177
S200 Mk3 .177
Air Arms HFT500 .177

PCP is more fun to shoot and more accurate. With the springer you don't have have an air tank and take it to get filled. I would have the PCP if I didn't have to drive 85 miles to get the tank filled. So I chose the TX200 MKlll. It's very accurate with the JSB Exact Jumbo 15.89. Smallest group at thirty yards is .161 and smallest group at 50 yards is .628. Iv.e only had it for three weeks and still learning the best hold for it. It is more fun to shoot than any of my other rifles.

The best air rifle is the 1 you are using at the time. Probably the 1 you have the most confidence in and feel really comfortable with. Whatever the age, calibre, spring/pcp or make.
For me this is the AA S410 classic followed very very closly by my Axsor gemini - both in .22.
I also keep an old airsporter mk1 which makes an appearance about once a year. Which by the way I can hit as much with, as i can with both my other guns.

I think you`ll find Mr B, the 200 is cheaper & solider! more accurate & better looking,
bit like myself really!
But the S200 is made by CZ

Not that I'm knocking them. My 22LR is made by them

Did I mention that I'm the only one to have attended EVERY meet since we started

I would like to congratulate AA for bringing out the S400 MPR 10 metre rifle that looks the business, capable of competing at high level. Maybe not in Rio but in club events. Marketing among younger shooters and biathlons is commendable (pony clubs and similar groups are being loaned with them). With more than 2/3 of our members over 60 and some over 80 we need new blood!
Change the spring and its a FT!

The S200 Target was a good start but alzo CZ made and too much plastic for £400+ but with Anschutz closer to three grand and the others close behind the market is wide open. Just need some more 10m clubs and stop the parish wives closing down the existing venues.
I used to FT with a S200 mk 2 in 1998 but the power curve started flat for 50 shots then dropped off alarmingly. (Combro CB-625 chrono). For long sessions I had to take 3 containers of 50 pellets with me and a buddy bottle from a BSA 10 and filler kit to get 150 decent shots. They seem to have a sweetspot curve nowadays.

Well I am newly returned to shooting after a long break, the first rifle I bought was a Daystate Pulsar, but found it excellent for plinking and hunting but not too good on the HFT side, so yesterday I bought an AA HFT500 and love it, a bit noisy compared to the Pulsar but it's only to shoot tin chickens and they don't run away.
