I understand why he removes the silencer from a rimfire as they do get a little messy from powder residue.

that could have been what he meant, just wanted to clear it up, which thanks to you guys I have.

Hi,

IIRC someone fixed it by sliding a piece of heatshrink sleeving down the hammer spring and then shrinking it on. It didn't cover the whole spring just the coils in the middle. Also search for 'de-pinger' depending on where the noise is coming from.
