No, it effectively makes the spring slightly thicker, it's 3mm internal diameter tube, but then you drop it into boiling hot water and it shrinks tight around the wire.
The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second one mouse that gets the cheese.

Interesting, I have polished the spring internally against the hammer and it it is still a snug fit.
I know not all have that fit though. Would be interesting to see a shot string with and without if you have done it to compare consistency?

Haven't done a shot string mate, sorry. I have however fitted an Altaros reg so I don't notice any detriment.
