Which gun to choose.

Mon Jul 01, 2019 7:32 pm

Hi all
at present my go to gun is an AA s410 classic in .22. I use it just for hunting/vermin control. I recently attended the AAOC meet and and enjoyed the target shooting, where I might add I was the only one shooting 22??
My dilemma is, which is the best gun for vermin control and the occasional HFT shooting foray.
Any suggestions,
the gun will need to be robust enough to take the knocks and bangs of general use around my permissions as well as just being able to pick it up and use on targets/HFT.
Is there even such a gun out there???.
Cheers
Kevin

S400 with Rowan mag would be (and was) my choice too. If you want to up the budget, an Ultimate Sporter and single shot loader for HFT.

you already got the best gun for the job kev, as pound for pound the 400/410 cannot be beaten.
30yds bench rested with the right pellet they are capable of shooting ragged one hole groups, so thats the accuracy dept sorted. no matter which gun you buy, it wont beat a ragged 1 holer @ 30yds, some may equal it, but not beat it
as for calibre kev, eerrrrr well some guns like 4.51, some like 4.52, and a few like 4.53 ;) so plenty of choice in the calibre department

never tried em, as i get 1 holers with 4.52, so that cant really be improved, and they wont kill any better either.
heard some say that accuracy at long range was better using 4.53, so that may be worth a look into mate ;)
i think a lot of bsa barrels seemed to shoot 4.53 better, at least i think it was bsa or summat like that
