AA S410 Magazine

Fri Jul 05, 2019 10:22 am

Hi All,

Being new back to shooting and having retrieved my AA S410 out of the loft, I found the magazine a little difficult to load.

The problem seems to be that when inserting pellets into the magazine that they don't easily drop in and that I need to use another pellet to push it in so that I can rotate the magazine to insert the next round?

Note: all 10 chambers are the same!

Having installed the magazine on to the rifle the bolt action and loading is as smooth as can be and the firing works well.

The first thought was that the chambers had become corroded in some way? So I purchased another magazine from eBay and this appears to be fine; however, when using the cocking mechanism to load the rounds into the breach it doesn't insert the round easily and I need to apply additional pressure to push the round home?

Test firing from both magazines seems to be OK, with similar grouping to be had from both.

Is this anything to be concerned about?
Regards
Chris

As above,is the problem mag a yellow faced or clear faced mag.
If you do strip the mag do it in a plastic bag as not too lose the little ball bearing.

You can open up the holes in the plastic face slightly.

Thanks Guys,

The old mag is a yellow-faced one that came with the rifle, whereas the new one (eBay) is a clear-faced one, I have some spare o-rings so I'll replace the one in the old mag, not forgetting the plastic bag trick.

OK,

I fitted a new o-ring to the old yellow-faced mag, but no change, so I removed the faceplate again and reamed the hole with a fine 6mm reamer and it's now perfect.

So I'm left with a problem with the new clear-faced mag and I wonder if the problem is that the mag isn't fitting properly and hence not aligning with the barrel correctly?

Just out of interest, .177 or .22 and what pellets are you using. You can make sure the mag aligns by loosening the mag clip and inserting the mag and closing the bolt, then retightening the mag clip. Rog

Hi Roger,

It is a .22 and I am using Bisley Magnum Pellets.

I tried your suggestion above with the new mag but to no avail, just out of interest I have just tried the action with no pellets in the mag and I experience the same issue; ie the last 7mm of the bolt requires noticeably more pressure to push it home.

What's it like without the mag fitted?

It's perfect with either No Mag or with the Old Mag Fitted bearing in mind I fitted a new o-ring in the old mag yesterday.

It looks like the o’ring Isn’t seating onto the carrier and is sitting too proud.
Take the o’ring off and then try it.
