oh no not that old chestnut again :lol:
layers pellets in .22 are a bit big and could be a choking hazard, and in .177 they can be sharp and pointy, and cause serious injury, or get stuck up the hens nose. theres an old saying, ''.22 for free range, and .177 for caged'', but i think it boils down to personal preference really pete :? :lol:
