Hello from down under

Sat Oct 17, 2015 10:22 pm

Just found this great web site and so much information. I used to be a paid Rabbiter on a local Rabbit Board over 30 year's ago. I had some big Stations and Farms to cover by dogging, night shooting, gassing, trapping and poisoning. A lot of our area's were covered by motorbike and land-rover which we shot out of as well. The Rabbit boards or Pest Boards have all gone, but there is the odd Rabbit or Pest Contractor working for themselves now, and I'm one of them. It seems like when you get to a certain age nobody wants to employ you anymore, so that is why I have started out own my own and am my own boss
I shoot 2 local golf Courses in my area and other built up areas where there never used to be housing and local Parks as well. Seeing that I couldn't use a shotgun or .22 Rifle, I am now the proud owner of a Air Arms S 510 Xtra .22 Side lever cocking Rifle and have shot 200 rabbits and 4 hares, 10 opossums in a month.! The two Golf clubs here have given me a Golf cart each to drive and shoot the animals out of. The bonus of it all is that 'm getting paid for something that I like doing and I have a job again. I also shoot, snipe, and dog life style blocks and farms from 10 acres to 900 acres.
With some of the bigger Farms etc I use a shotgun or Ruger 10-22. The Air Arms Rifle seems to be one hell of a rifle to use and very accurate, and I cannot fault it at this stage. I like the 10 shot rotary mag as well. Cheer's.

I promise I won't mention dogging again.! But from behind, if one is inclined, it could beat the full frontal bulge of a big tummy.    I think we are getting off the subject a bit, but I guess I started it.

Hello Kiwi, welcome to the AAOC, :D
Good to hear you've gone self employed, i did the same 20 years ago and have never looked back, although i would rather be doing your "job" than fitting bathrooms and tiling for a living.
As for "Dogging", sod that! too bloody cold here, and the queue's are horrendous
