Re: Hft 500 best pellet to use
I just did some pellet testing for my HFT 500 and confirmed that it likes the Air Arms Field Heavies (10.3) the best over any JSB's (8.4's and 10.3's) and H&N's (9.5's and 10.65's). I'm not in the UK so I've adjusted the speed and hammer spring to shoot the 10.3's at about 765fps.
All rifles can have certain preferences outside of the norm, so you'll need to find what works for yours.

Hi, I am in the UK and use an HFT500. I find the best pellets for my rifle are BSA Goldstar/H&N Field. Both are the same believe it or not and are .177. Both are 4.52 Diablolo pellets. I do wash them in salt free car shampoo and then weigh them and lubricate them before using them in competition. I do find that you end up with 50% weighing 8.6grains and the remainder +/- of this, often significantly. Normally end up with quite a lot weighing 8.8-9+ grains. this just means you end up with sorted tins at these weights and have less chance of 'fliers' as they are not mixed. That said you need to test any pellets to see what suits your rifle. What suits mine may not suit yours.

Straight out of the tin and not batch dependent, mine prefers 452 air arms diablo fields. I did have a batch of 453 jsb that were excellent but haven't been able to get anymore of the same batch. Other batches have not been as good as the AADF.
