Reverting a S200 from a 10mtr target rifle back to a sporter

Mon Jun 20, 2016 4:42 pm

Hi, I have recently acquired a lovely little S200 that has been set at 6ftlbs and fitted with diopter sights , I want to return it to a sporting rifle but I'd like to set it properly and refit the A/T sheer off screw ,can these be bought easily and does anyone know the size and thread pitch of this little bolt , I won't be removing it until I have a replacement bolt.
Thanks
Ps Also on the lookout for a cylinder for this rifle too ..

Thread size is Metric Thread 3mm, You dont need a shear bolt to display that it is Anti-Tamper.
Just get a couple of these at 6mm long (Complete with tool for under £2.00) and then you can be in control but others cant touch it unless they have the tool ......... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M3-M4-M5-M6-M ... ghq4hd-Wag

You will need another M3 x 5mm Long Cone Point grub screw to go under this one so that you can use that to set your Venturi up before locking it off with the Torx security bolt. :)

Just to clarify ... If you use what I have suggested, you can adjust your rifle to be legal if it ever wanders over the limit. For example, you put the new spring in ... it settles down after a couple of thousand pellets and your power creeps up. All you have to do is open the screw with the security tool and set it to be cool again.

Instead if you put the anti-tamper plug on it and power creeps up, you will be grinding a slot on the plug to try and open it.

I have ordered some parts from Julian , new spring etc and will still be able to adjust the rifle to keep on the right side of the law. I just wanted something that looks like it can't be tampered with for appearances sake .I have also ordered the AT that you linked to as an alternative .
Cheers Raj.

PS the anti-tamper plug I was referring to was the one for adjusting the spring tension, but not concerned now as the stock hides that one ...

Got it abut the main spring plug. The old ones used to come with a slotted grup screw. The new ones dont have a slot that makes it look like a plg that cant be tampered. However, you can uncrew it by applying thumb pressure! Sometimes, there is a 3mm grub screw that arrests the large main spring plug from the side of the action. YOu may want to stick a 1.5mm allen key down the holes on either side and unscrew before you start removing that plug.

You may find that when you put the higher powered spring in, you may not be able to achieve the desired output without re-setting the valve spring - CZ035. Because this spring has been set for a lighter spring, it will take very little load on the main spring to get your sub-12 ft.lbs power and the spring plug will stick out quite a bit. If you come up against this problem, screw the Valve Cap (CZ034) till it is 10mm below the inner face of Firing Valve End Plug CZ038.

Thanks Raj, I hope I only need to adjust mainspring and power screw but if I run into problems with it I'll adjust the valve spring like you mentioned , my gun is a S400T so chances are this will need adjusted, I saw the max16 joules on the block and imagined it was only a mainspring required but having looked at the diagram again it makes sense that the valve will be adjusted slightly differently for a 7.5 joule rifle. Fellow I bought gun from only put a tin through it but reckoned it was super accurate after about 200 shots and he was getting really consistent shots from a 160bar fill down to 110bar. I can't wait to do the work and get a scope on it to try it out, I shoot springers 99% of the time so this will be a wee change.
Its also so my youngest lad can get some quality time at the range as he really struggles with any of my springers and can't use the Dragon at all.
Hence why I would like an extra cylinder or two for him just to change over instead of lugging the air tank about..

Got the wee security bolts and driver bit in post today Raj, once the other parts arrive from Julian I will be straight onto it , my first instinct is to set mainspring tension plug/screwcap thing flush with block and chrono it ,hopefully only needing a slight adjustment of valve power screw to bring it to 11ftlb with AA Domes ..
One thing I did notice , my rifle hasn't a mainspring guide inside ,just a spring ..I would have thought this would cause inconsistency in the compression of the mainspring ..
