I am cool now ... off to bed!

And no ... it is not an accidental repeat of last night's post ...... I went again

So good you had to go back twice :D :D How many did you sample. Any favorites to watch out for.

I sampled 6 different beers, Kevin ... 2 lots of thirds so I only had 1 pint each night in real terms .... of sampling. I then finished the evening off with a full pint of the preferred ale out of the 3 ... so 2 pints.
On the first night it was the Wagtail from Allendale Breweries near Hexham ... somewhere between the legendary Haltwhistle and Newcastle coming in at a mild session strength 3.8% - http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/allendale- ... le/132616/ that I found the best.

On the 2nd night, I settled with The Screech Owl from Castle Rock Brewery in Nottingham - a much heftier ale coming in at 5.5% so not one to be tackled in anger .... http://www.castlerockbrewery.co.uk/?beer=screech-owl

Both are right down my street in terms of style ... pale, hoppy, fragrant and sharp. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

I may come across as drinking a lot but I don't ... a typical week consists of a couple of 2 or max. 3 pints of really nice, well brewed and well served, traditional ale - skilfully balanced and looked after with care and pride by the fine (semi) freehouses we are lucky enough to have here in Rugby. I came to England from India in November 1991 and have been a member of CAMRA since December that year. It is a bloody crying shame that vast chunks of youth and middle aged British drinkers do not have the knowledge or the inclination to support such a fine brewing tradition. Guess what? When it is gone, it is gone ... :( so we need to do our best to keep it alive.

My local pub is a Real ale pub. It has won the camra real ale country pub of the year this year, and other accolades from camra over the past few years.
He also brews his own beer in a micro brewery in the pub. His signature ale which is very good is called "One foot in the yard". He sends his beers all over the country.
He has a good website to browse if the fancy takes you, its called "The Yard Of Ale Brewery". AND its only about 30 mins from Geordies place.
HOW GOOD IS THAT.

On the back of the fun from last night .... just returned from a house party  Well a garden party that Chris and Colin have every spring ....
Excellent beer from the Churchend Brewery on tonight .... I have been blending my own ... 50% Fallen Angel at 5% and 50% Goats Milk at 3,8% ... I make that 4,4 % which is a decent number in my book. They are sister beers from the same house and a similar style .... So a couple of decent pints of real ale, followed by a scotch shot. ... Not a lot of booze in all but a really nice evening ... :) The pain from the 20 mile ride around Draycot Water this afternoon in 18 mph head winds is now forgotten ....Hope you had a nice one too 8-)

See you tomorrow lads !!
