I`d to strip, clean, unclog, & generally bugger around with my Dyson so many times, getting covered in sh!t almost every time, I grew to detest it!
I bought a Miele C3 (cylinder) listed now at 170-299 depending on model, which is sore Ray, I know you don`t wanna spend a fortune & I know for certain I paid around 120/30 for mine, but, & it`s a big `un, it is an absoloutely brilliant vacuum, whisper quite, variable power, brilliant reputation, ok, you need bags, but, no mess changing them unlike that ruddy Dyson-which my wife prefers BTW, But (hope you spot the recurring theme here mate) she reckons it needs a service & new brushes despite it being around 3 years old!
the Dyson wins on carpets cos of the brushes, but my entire lower level in my home is laminate, so it`s still the Miele for me.
my next purchase will be a Miele, upright, with brushes.

The Daystate Pulsar looks like it would make a good vaccum cleaner

I cadged a couple of (as seen) dysons from the tip and once fitted with new brushes in the motors they worked great, i gave one th my father in law
and kept the other . My first vaccum was where our late dog used to lay (he had been gone for a year or so ) as the wife said she could still smell where he had been
and was about to get me to buy a new carpet. Now i kid you not i had to empty the chamber within 5 mins of starting as it was full of our late dogs hairs,
which our previous hover had failed to pick up (a hover).
i vowed from that day on if anything happened to the dyson i would buy a new one to replace it , and after almost 8 years of keeping the old girl going i had to bite the bullit
and bought a new one £300+ and i have never looked back.
Yes technology has advanced and these new hi tec cordless ones recon to be the bees knees but until someone lets me loose on one the dyson is the one :D .

To be fair the Dyson was around 15 years old and had been superb. It owes me nothing. I suspect that anything now replaced would just put pressure elsewhere.

I think it will have to be e.bay or Currys for a new vac.
