I have a brick shed In my garde that is backed up against a large bank of soil. Rats have managed to dig/chew their way in through the cement between the bricks. An old timer on the allotments tells me rather than replace the cement, pack the holes with wire wool. Rats supposedly cannot chew through wire wool. Anybody know if this is true.

Why waste wire wool on them when an AirArms Diabolo would bring you so much more pleasure ... ?
Sit up a couple of nights and whack em good !!!

Re: Stopping rats getting into my shed
The sheds only 10ft by 7ft. I would probably miss at that range

Re: Stopping rats getting into my shed
wire wool will work, also broken glass has the same deterrent effect, most allotment owners are very cagey about
shooting of any kind, the chance of getting permission from every gardener plus the local council is highly unlikely.
good Luck

As Raj said, forget the wire wool.
Park yourself on a shooting mat (or similar) with a tin of pellets next to you & have fun.

Wire wool is used to choke them. Glass and mortar is the way forward. You could always bait them into a safe area for shooting

Did I mention that I'm the only one to have attended EVERY meet since we started

my thought too BBF, bait them to somewhere with a safe back stop & have a ball!
FWIW, working alongside a pest control guy years ago, he told me if you want rid of pests, find what they`re eating & remove it, deny them food & they`ll simply go away, great, cept, as he himself admitted, rats & mice can eat just about anything & survive on it, annoying fact I know, but just thought I`d mention it!
