wisdom tooth

6 months ago I had a wisdom tooth filled against my better judgement. I wanted it out but the dentist said he could save it. Ok, I went along with him and had it filled. On monday it started hopping and banging so off to the dentist again yesterday and a booking made for friday to have it out. Last night I was in agony, didn't sleep so at 10-30 this morning I was in the surgery, in the chair by 11-30. I got out at 12-15 feeling like I'd been smacked by Mike Tyson, numerous attempts to remove it, lever it, twist it all failed because the tooth eventually snapped leaving the roots in place, apparently bonded to the jawbone. The dentist even said if he used any more force it would have broken my jaw.
So, still in pain at the moment but waiting for an urgent referral to hospital. Not bloody happy!

If it was that well stuck why couldn’t they save it. Sound like a right ding dong that’s gonna be.
Are you now doped up on antibiotics and pain killers.
Shame you can’t have a skin full and a good nights sleep.

Cold weather brings all my aches and pains out

Im with you on that. After a filling mine went bad overnight and I had 2 days off work in agony waiting to have it extracted. Fortunately it came out clean and I paid a ton to be sedated. Floated out of the surgery!
The missus however had a root left in and after waiting 3 months for NHS to fob her off twice she went private and it was sorted in a week. "Only" cost £300 and NHS isnt free unless you get referred to an actual hospital.
Free at the point of need doesnt count with dentistry.

Root canal treatment was quoted at £600 by a specialist, my dentist wouldn't even attempt it.

I had an NHS root canal filling. Wasnt cleanly done. To re-do a root filling needs the latex dissolved out with chloroform before a new dig out with the rasps. £850.
