Has anyone had the flu jab. Would you say there was a benefit?
Too many have said it's made them ill

When I was working I used to get flu every February without fail followed by a month of bad chest. I managed to get the NHS to give me the jab until the government changed the rules. Then I had to pay for it until I was 65. I never had true flu again for 15 years or more.

EXCEPT when the government prohibited commercial vaccinations from getting the Swine Flu component - it was only available to NHS free vaccinations to which I was not entitled at the time. Guess what I got?? Flu whilst on the bog all day is not pleasant.
Will not stop you getting colds or manflu or anything else. You know when you have real flu - the 102F temperature, the pounding head if you try to get out of bed and can't eat for days.
You may feel a bit sweaty for 2 days after the jab - take paracetamol. It's better than getting flu if you are susceptible.

I have had the flu jab for the past three years, we get it free in October at work. I don't feel any effects from the jab and have been without a man cold since

Far better to have the jab and cut your chances of getting flu.

I get the flu jab every year as I have a serious underlying medical condition. In the 12 years that I have been getting it, I have never once suffered any side effects. The rumour that having the jab may give you flu like symptoms is just that, a rumour. As TT says, you're far better off having the flu jab than risking getting the illness itself. I've had flu and it put me in bed for 10 days, it was I must say one of the most awful illnesses I have ever had.

I avoid children, don't shake hands with anybody and drive my own train to work thus avoiding the minging masses, works for me...

But seriously, real flu can be a killer, my bestest neighbour died from it and I still miss him, he was a big shooter and a lovely guy.

There is no live virus in the vaccine. A lot of people claim that they get "Flu" from the vaccine, this is not true.
Genuine flu is really debilitating, and to those with a compromised immune system or co-morbidities can actually be fatal.
You may have a sore or aching arm afterwards, a slight temperature is quite common (treat with paracetamol, if you can take it).
It's safe for the elderly and pregnant women.
I ran the flu clinic at work one year. Sticking needles in my colleagues. Great fun!
