Pain!!!

Sun Mar 08, 2015 12:09 am

Anyone suffer from chronic pain?

I seem to be getting worse bother from deep nerve pain (so I'm told) which is supposedly consistent with long term type 1 diabetes.

They added a Morphine/Methadone patch to my list of meds a couple of weeks back.

It's helped with some pain, but my neck is all but goosed this last week or so.

I wake in pain with both little fingers completely numb. I find myself waking in the night and having to use one arm to move the other arm into it's desired position! I'm totally hacked off and wondered what meds other folk get who are in a similar position.

Cheers.

I did ... Neck and shoulders. Till about 5 or 6 years ago when I started regular exercise. Even now, it comes back if I have to avoid exercise due to some reason like travel, other illness etc. There is a 100% direct link between keeping it moving + working the muscles versus not.

Our Neil from North Wales suffers chronic pain .... I am sure he will be along in a min. to give us chapter and verse.

Anyone suffer from chronic pain?
Ooohh yeah! Degenerative disc disease at l5s1 three bouts of surgery over the last 3/4 years (the last being taking out the disc and screwing the vertebrae together) and at best its taken the edge off the nerve pain at the expense of pain at the surgery site :x Currently on gabapentin, cocodamol, naproxen + lanzoprazole (to stop my stomach digesting itself) and to be frank it still stings a tad! I seem to find that a lot of the time the side effects of the meds are getting on for being as bad as the pain. So far my best strategy for dealing with it is to meet it with a bit of aggression, if it is sore enough to stop me doing something it winds me up enough that I seem to get the adrenaline going and that helps me push through it at least to a certain degree and I look at the pain almost as an adversary to fight and as such it is easier to deal with than the reduced mobility and sensation that comes with it. Unfortunately I think its one of those thing you just have to find a way to live with and deal with as best you can ;)

Arthritis a broke l 4 vertebra and a torn rotator cuff, knee replacement all in the last couple years. Coupled with some dental pain and I race motorcycles. Broken ribs and other bones. Pain sucks. Pills help. But only for the pain. You still can't move and pills make thinking difficult. So Ya pain
The thing is you develope a tolerance for it. Like it's normal.
