£365million for the Queen while ex squaddies go homless

I read this morning that one of the richest women in the World needs a bit of a makeover at Buckingham Palace, but rather than paying for it from her own phenomenally vast reserves of wealth, we the taxpayer are to foot the bill! So our Government will give the Queen another £369million despite the fact that she could pay for it herself, while over 10,000 ex soldiers who have served this Country and suffered for it are denied any assistance and are left homeless and living on the Street. What a national disgrace this is. I must say that having served this Country for 32 years, I'm left fuming with rage. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against us paying in part to have a monarchy, but they are already phenomenally wealthy in their own right, so why the hell should we be paying. Successive UK Governments have preached an edict of austerity when cutting our much needed public services to ribbons over the past 5 years - it's about time that the Monarchy were included within this austerity. If the Monarchy had any decency they would pay for these repairs themselves.

The bloody monarchy gained their wealth and lands through murder, bribery, torture and blackmail. Why the hell are we supporting people who don't give a sh1t about us?
My wife did a nursing degree and earned nothing for 3 years while I toiled to support us, we went to Chester Cathedral for the graduation ceremony only to have to endure an hour of one of the Queens cousins being given an honorary degree for nothing but an excuse to bugger off and get wasted and stuffed full on our money.
I don't know why our forces pledge allegence, it's a disgrace.

Maybe it would if this kind of incident was something new? The majority of us see it as just another example of ordinary taxpayers being shafted to keep an elite living the highlife. If the "Royals" are that good for tourism then let the tourism industry fork out for repairs. Will anyone pay for my boiler repairs or my parents rewire job next year?
No way, that's down to us. If Liz and her family own the pile they should pay for repairs, if they're tenants then the landlord pays but Liz should be paying a bloody sight more rent. Personally I think Buck house should be pulled down and redeveloped as a detention centre for illegal immigrants, along with Balmoral, the Norfolk pile and any other subsidised housing that we pay for and they get to live in for 2 months of the year.

Very true, but the American people at least had a choice, it's ironic that the British, so proud of the principles of freedom and democracy have no choice at all.
A bit like North Korea.
