Weekend away

Thu Jun 02, 2016 8:21 pm

Looking forward to a weekend away in skipton, north yorkshire with a gang of other couples.
It a great part of the world - especially when the weather is right.

Enjoy !!! I love that part of the world.
It only slightly over 10 miles from there to Malham. If you guys have reasonable footwear, I would highly recommend a walk - Malham > Along Gordale Beck > Janets Foss > Gordale Scar > Scramble up the Scar to Malham Tarn > Down past the Limestone pavement and Malham Cove back to Malham village for a cool pint at the Lister Arms.

This is the view looking down over Malham Cove ... 8-) Watch out for nesting Peregrine Falcons ... The Cove resounds to their calls !!! Eerie :)

Off for a swim in the Tarn !!!That is my bald head

Great photos raj.
1 of the lads we were with makes holidays out of walking canal routes, so we walked the canal from skipton towards leeds for about 6 miles then turned around and walked back, the scenery looked great wherever we looked.
Maybe next time we will do the route you suggest.

I hope you managed a visit to "The Elm Tree!" I've got some great memories of that place, good food, good beer and some great regulars.

did this walk last week, i did it Malham cove first, as i wanted to view it for as long as possible, the other way round you are walking away from it. the only bit that was of any difficulty really is the limestone pavement over the top of the cove.i did not scramble up goredal scar as i was with the family, but we loved it.

Lonely Planet said Britian is the most beautiful island on earth. When you look at the diversity we have, it's true.
