Is being investigated for apparently doing a barrel roll over Lincolnshire, what a waste of time! Does it really matter if the old plane had fallen apart? Somehow that seems a more fitting end to the old bomber than sitting and decaying like the Bristol Concorde.

roll it like you`ve stole it...... why not I`m sure the pilot would not have performed such a manoeuvre if he thought the plane was not upto the task.

Pilots want to land safely too. What a waste of time, it landed, leave it at that.

Depends where it was and whether public safety at risk if it had broken up. Personally I don't think any of these old planes should be flying, they should all be grounded. All this wallowing in slushy sentimentality for a war we never really won is holding this country back. Same goes for vintage and veteran cars etc. Getting beyond a joke all this clinging on to the past. Sweep it all away - and the National Trust and English Heritage.

Wartime Weekend Pickering - the town full of pseudo military types in the main who as my Dad said would mess themselves if they saw real action - until you've seen a King Tiger smash through a house and cut off your escape, until you've fired 25 pdrs on open sights totally ineffectually etc etc. Wearing medals they never earned, strutting round in uniforms they're not fit to grace.

Yep, a brilliant airframe, well maintained and probably stronger than most modern aircraft. I wish they had looped her as well.
Video is available if you do a google search. Well done to the pilot and crew, my dad worked on that particular aircraft and I got up close as a kid so we both feel the same about the Vulcan. A beautiful piece of aeronautical history that should be kept flying regardless of cost.

Correct Timmytree, I don't fully agree with a previous comment due to the fact that we really should be encouraging our children to go into engineering, the British have a natural talent for it and we still export it worldwide. Vulcan, Concorde, Merlin, tilting trains, graphene, carbon fibre, F1 cars, should we relegate it all to history and forget what we do best. And I haven't even started on the PCP airgun or HMS Dauntless, both ruthlessly efficient weapons by the way.

This happened just down the road from me and I have to say I wish I had seen it. We've seen this fine old girl passing over quite regularly since she was restored and it's been incredible to see how people that profess to have no interest in aviation history come out to catch a glimpse of her as soon as the sound of a batch of rolls Royce olympus engines rip through the fabric of the air :D Its a shame that some local non-entity decided that their claim to fame was going to be promoting a third rate vid of the Vulcan allegedly carrying out amanouver that was well within its design specs but "he' ho" such is life :( For your interest here is how it was reported in our local rag last week
