Beer can chicken?
Beer can chicken?
Anyone tried it? I spotted a recipe yesterday and decided to give it a go. Basically marinade a whole chicken in whatever you fancy, get a large tin of beer, drink half of it and push the tin into the body cavity, stand it on end and roast it. Looking brilliant! A huge pan of spuds and various vegetables Mediterranean style with masses of garlic, thyme and sage.

Cant put my finger on it but there is something very wrong about that picture of a bird with a can up its ····

Tim, I thought you were winding us up with this until I googled it, fair play mate, apparently you can use a can of cider too, never thought I`d learn to love the name Thatcher(s) but there you go! I`ll give it a try next week, cheers pal.

Re: Beer can chicken?
Looks like a plan
I'm pretty sure Weber charge a fortune for a similar contraption to use with their BBQs. One thing I really must take issue with is describing the item in the picture as a "tin of BEER" when it clearly isn't!!!!

Re: Beer can chicken?
You are quite correct James, an insult to a fine bird, only ever use Old Speckled Hen or in an emergency and with some virgin (naturally) olive oil lubrication and a firm grip up the other end Bishops Finger!
Sounds good Tim, am going to give it a go soonest.

Re: Beer can chicken?
It was bloody gorgeous!
I'm going to experiment with different stuff in the tin besides beer or lager. I reckon something infused with sweet chilli and ginger might be good, pineapple juice might be another option. I think par cooked like this then cut in half and finished on the BBQ would be winner.
The vegetables were lovely, Morgan and I ate ourselves to a standstill, not even bothered with tea or supper tonight.
