The ticks involved here were barely 2mm in diameter and one imagines are often not noticed at all but, after a few weeks the infection most certainly makes itself felt.
Happily the lab diagnosis was swift and the antibiotics prescribed.
Picked them up whilst repairing a whole in the boundary fence that was letting deer, wild pigs and genet into the orchard, no doubt a super tick buffet location.
