Yet another hero...
My uncle Joey served in the Royal Navy during World War 2, he has just been awarded The Legion D' Honneur (Legion of Honour) for his part in the liberation of France. This is France's highest military honour.

Re: Yet another hero...
These men are passing fast. Boggles the mind to think what most went through. My Dad's brother passed 2 years ago, at 91, and was a WWII vet. He once told me "One day I was plowing cotton behind a mule, and the next, I was headed up through Italy." Quite a shock for a 19 year old from Georgia. He eventually landed a cushy job loading a Howitzer. Men from that era had a different mindset, they saw a job that needed doing and they did it.
