Well that was fun!
Just got back from my first ever go on a hft cousre.
Went over to the Waulkmill shooting grounds for the sunday club shoot.
The weather real nasty raining cats and dogs with a cold blusters easterly wind.
Only a couple of guys from the club out but they wete more than happy to go around the two courses with me and gave me loads of good tips.
Managed to get 35 on the first course and 32 on the second.
There was some tricky shots there and i was happy to at least hit the face plate on all of them
Now i juey need to sort out my range finding and holdovers,
Must have been luck that i droped some of the longer shots.
Got to say well chuffed with the s410 the only thing that let it down was me.

Re: first time hft
Sounds like you had a good time. The weather sometime makes it that little bit bit special

Did I mention that I'm the only one to have attended EVERY meet since we started

It is a skill getting the scores above the 50s. I used to laugh at the whole thing thinking how difficult can it be. Now I know and respect it.

HFT can become addictive but it will improve your shooting skills.
The main aim (pardon the pun) is to enjoy it. You will be shooting in all weathers but that's part of the sport.
Start off by shooting against yourself and try to improve your scores without bothering about what others score. There are quite a number of superb shooters in HFT and with practice there's no reason why you shouldn't join them.

Yeah .... Get the 15mm reducer on the KD target and set it up at 8 yards for a complete surprise

that's the killer. a few of us were in the garden the other day shooting some new knock down tagets I got. only 25-30 yard range. as soon as we were trying the 15mm size ring on standing shots it was a difernt game.

Re: first time hft
On a UKAHFT course the smallest unsupported stander/kneeler would be 35mm and no further than 35 yds.
Practice on a 15mm should make you really good
