I suppose the reply is 'why the question' because there will be so many variables. Do you mean out of the box, run in, tuned or what? Mine is just under 11 which suits me fine and that is one that has had nothing done to it apart from TLC since new 3 years ago.

barndaddy and F Poole would disagree.

Because we are beset with a 12FPE limit that doesn't stop others shooting very well and accurately with higher power rifles.

I have found that the long stroke guns do very well at 850 to 900 fps with Exacts. Most of my guns are now at the 12 ft. lb. level with a couple that are over.

Yeah i have to agree, i fitted an un cut titan spring in my prosport which put the power at 11.99999 with a 7.9 grn pellet and it shot superbly, now the spring has set the power has dropped but the smoothness hasnt increased any,but i couldnt leave it at nearly 12 flbs it to close to the uk limit

It has to be remembered that we have a disadvantage when it comes to tuning springers. What we want is a nicely behaving rifle that will shoot consistently and accurately. It also needs to be easily repeatable in it's action. We can do all this and then have to compromise because we're too near or over our limit.

It is easier to get the rifle performing at lower power levels but that's hardly surprising. You can get the reverse and two rifles that spring to mind are the HW80 and the AA Pro-elite. Both were designed with higher powers in mind and both don't shoot so well at sub 12 levels.
