S410 Gauge Stuck.

Sun Apr 26, 2015 10:46 am

Practicing this morning with S410 carbine and noticed pressure dropping off.
But gauge indicated 150.
Filled it up to 190 but still says 150!!
Any ideas?

Don't go by the gauge. It is not accurate and should be used as an indication only.
I suggest you fill to 180bar, count out 60 pellets, when the pellets are gone, refill to 180.

I don't understand why some manufacturers fit these cheapo gauges. A gauge that does not read correctly is worse than useless. You are paying money for something that either works badly or doesn't work at all. It would be better to fit a decent gauge and charge a little more. It's not even if we were measuring low pressures, we are measuring in the region of 1500/3000 psi.

I have 4 German/Austrian rifles where the gauges work perfectly and have done for a number of years. They read exactly the same as my bottle gauges.

I have the exact same issue - stuck on 150 bar... It's a bran(3 weeks old) new s400(left handed walnut)!

Livid! - Now I either have to pay £26 quid to get this shipped back to them or drive there myself.

"Made in England, must be good quality" - they said. Will last you a life time as it's engineered in the UK".... they said. ... really not happy so far.

Going to have a look at the video - dead scared of doing anything myself in case I lose the 3 year warrentee though!

Any other thoughts - seems like a common problem!

Cheers

David

Can you buy aftermarket gauges? Ones which work properly!
Mine isn't too good either on my new S400f but really accurate on my 13 year old not ft.
Seems the British engineering was better back then.

Inaccurate is one thing, stuck is something else. My new s400 came with one stuck at 150. Always seems to be 150!
I think theres just one manufacturer in China that makes that hexagonal gauge. Some are AA some are plain.
Any other needs to have the correct profile for the O ring fitting too.

I contacted xtx air and their huma gauges are a direct replacement. Original o ring works with them as standard.

@David_400 get the AA gauge and O ring from our sponsor Julian and the warranty will not be affected, though if it’s still under warranty why not have it done at the dealer.
If you do it yourself dry fire the rifle 100 or so times to remove a chunk of the air then undo the gauge very slowly with a 22 mm socket or box spanner til you hear a crack as the remaining air bursts the O ring out of the joint.
Replace the new gauge with a drop of grease on the ring and check for leaks with oil or soapy water.
