Hi Guys,

I realise completely that each barrel is different and you can never tell what will shoot best from each gun BUT i was hoping some of you may have some experience with accuracy with lead free pellets.

I used to shoot H&N lead free version from a non air arms a while back that worked beautifully. I recently bought a new S410f and tried a couple through that and they hate them.

The reason i need lead free is we have rabbits in the garden, but we have lots of animals so i cannot risk any of them ingesting a lead pellet should it go through and i can't find it etc.

I know there are a few other types of lead free versions, but reading up on them it seems that a lot of them don't like rifles that use a bolt to push through to the breech.

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated.

H&N have bought out PAX pellets so they should have a range of "Lead free" on the market fairly soon.

I think you will have to try as many types as you can but I wouldn't look for good accuracy over around 30yds. That however may be enough for your situation.

used lead free pellets in .22 at 40 yards you had no chance of hitting a large bull let alone a rabbit .
i would be more worried of hitting the other animals with fliers.

I read that lead free pallets are very much on the light side. light pellets fly like a bumble bee in the wind.

my experience with lead-free pellets I had to get with my s/h HW80 in .22 as this system miraculously accepts no other pellet. I tried 18 different pellets / head sizes but any other than HN Baracuda green this AG shoots like a shotgun.

No power limit here in Austria so I tuned it with a Vortek HO (full power)-kit and put three Delrin-plugs at the rear end of the piston - apart from all the other usual deburring & polishing.

It's heavy - total weight as shown in the picture is 5,120 kg / 11,29 lbs. and it shoots excellent as far as I do my part.
I love it.

HW80 in .22 / HN Baracuda green 5,50 - 12,344 gr / V-muzzle 860 fps / 20,29 fpe / max. dev. 16,6 fps / standard dev. 6,3 fps

The Dynamic PCP-2 lead free pellet 14gr in .22 shoots well for me. I've tried them all. Don't bother with any of those plastic skirts, they just tumble and fly every which way. My son has a Sumatra that shoots the H&N Greens pretty well, maybe your rifle will like them well enough. Good luck.
