what does it generally mean when my bolt is rather stiff when I try and pull it back to cock the gun. It seems to get progressively worse as I use the gun more, I had Julian service the gun 500 pellets ago and it was smooth as anything but now is is very stiff and also seems harder to push forward.

note. i have opened the gun since Julian replaced the seals and other things so i am in no way saying the problem was caused by Julian , just saying like :D :D :D

when you opened it to remove the washer behind the hammer you didn't aline the breech and valve housing , loosen the screws again , line everything up again and retighten the screws :-) , sorted :-).if its not sorted redo the above :-).

wipe it on then wipe it off , too much will clog it up and make it stiff again .

I have always used good quality gun oil on most moving parts in a rifle. Grease has a nasty habit of collecting dust and grit and then not letting it go. High load points I will used moli grease but in as small an amount as I can get away with, a sliding bolt isn't high load in its channel but the cocking link can be so on that I used a little grease.
