You are going to think im up the wall but try getting hold of some "Avon Skin So Soft". You can find it on Ebay or as I did initialy in your wifes make up cupboard.
It removes anything from anything with out doing any damage, if it gets on your stock it just wipes off not touching oiled finishes.
At £3.00 a bottle its worth having.

Its a blooming good insect repellent to boot I'm starting to think that a tub of Avon and a tin of WD and you're equipped for any eventuality

My Mrs sprays the dog and cats with it to get rid of fleas, I thought it was twaddle but it works better that flea spray.
If I spray a little on our bone idle sons shoes he can't stand up on the wood flooring in the front room. Its like watching a monkey on ice skates

Incidentally Avon skin so soft is an excellent midge repellent for those summer hunters out there
