Air Arms S310 near accident

Tue Feb 09, 2021 6:33 pm

Well I bought my S310 secondhand a few years ago and the rifle has been working really well so I decided to fit a Pressure Gauge so I bought the Kit from Lane regulators very highly recommend the kit so while doing this work I thought I will completely reseal the rifle this is where the fun started, the inside of the rifle had lots of bits of aluminium and muck in the Cylinder, when I removed the Firing valve body I found the pot Part S360 was only just hanging on by almost a thread and all the seals were so hard they had loads of cracks so I am pleased i decided to do all new seals.
I had a problem also that the Bolt Bush part S502 was completely worn out and the Barrel seal Carrier S535 was no longer a .177 it could pass a .25 pellet easily so have one coming from Air arms but at the end of all this it should be back to a nice sweet rifle and no guessing on how much air is left

How old is your S310? 15+ years?

if it's never been apart then those seals are well overdue replacement ;)

it is my firm belief that people who declare they have a 'bigger signature than' someone are trying to make up for something else

I dont know its age unfortunately and there is no serial number to look up as the Firing valve body has been replaced and they didn't transfer the number over.

if the main body's been replaced then I'd guess the seals arn't as old as the rifle (sorta obvious I know :) ) but also signs of interesting assembly practaces :?

I always use a smear of Molykote33 grease on 'O' riings but other pnumatic-safe products work just as well to help prevent the 'O' rings drying out.

Personally I don't take much notice of the small gauges as fitted to rifles (as oem fit or aftermarket) due to their cost & quality not pointing to great accuracy levels ;)

you are certainly right that they are not the factory seals but still don't know age of seals and by how dry and cracked they are they have been there a while, and I agree the little gauges are not always that accurate but at least I will get a rough idea of what is in the rifle instead of pure guessing, my big issue is no serial number but air arms say they can sort that if i send the action to them.
