Ultimate Sporter R Carbine

Wed Jun 03, 2020 4:32 pm

New here but looking to get US R Carbine

Looking at getting one of these in 177, on the Air Arms site its listed as having 'New Air Arms Series 7 regulator and valve system' yet on some of the RFD sites they list as Series 6 Regulator any idea when the 7 series reg came out are the RFD sites wrong or did AA use series 6 regs in early models? seen a few posts from people with problems on the early release ones. Any idea whats different from series 6 to 7.

Anyone know how the moderator is fixed on these is it threaded or push on with grub screw?

The standard US has the slip-on Q-tec with grub screw. I haven't seen the R but can't see why it would be different. There were some reg issues with the R when released so I hope they have been sorted. Why don't you phone or email Air Arms to answer the reg series question?

Hi did give them a call but they didn't give a 100% clear answer but sounded like it was same as std US. Put up a post on another forum and it seems peeps are still having issues with regulators in rifles purchased this year and a mixed reply from AA. One guy was told from AA all new regs from Dec 19 yet when I asked I was told all the US R <12 were the newer 7 reg from day one. Seems some are ok and others sending them back a few times till there working right.

I had to send mine back to get it to group properly, was down to an alignment issue and not the regulator. The mod on mine is a push on with grub screw.

I'd have thought AA would know the date or serial number when the Series 7 reg was introduced. If so you would be able to find out for a specific gun by checking the serial number.

If you want a reg but don't trust the AA reg, the Altaros reg is a simple fit in the unregged version - no cylinder hole or port modifications. It doesn't give any more shots but it does do away with the power curve, so sweet from 190bar to 110bar.

Put 2000 jsb though the sporter fantastic rifle very accurate
Date on barrel 9/2019 so not sure if it's fitted with the series 6 or 7 regular
Getting 80 shots per 230 bar fill before gauge drops below 100
