TX200 Mk2

Tue Mar 12, 2019 11:59 am

I've seen a couple of TX200 Mk2 both priced at £250. Both stocks are beech and marked - surface scratches and small dents - which wouldn't be too difficult to sort out. I'm guessing I could do a deal at £225 on either. I was thinking I might try them and buy whichever I felt was the better. My issue is the condition of the metalwork - surface rust on both, no serious pitting visible (I've not had the stocks off). If I try them out and one or other is shoots well I'll end up disregarding the condition and buying one (or maybe two! :o )

Should I go for these or leave well alone?

That’s a little bit expensive considering you will also want to fettle a bit.

There are plenty out there that have been cared for.

I'd still try them out. Take some AA/JSB pellets with you. You may find that one or both of the guns just seem to be special, accuracy wise. I have a special MarkII and it just seems easier to get a tight group. I've never seen a bad TX, but my first, and last, 97 was a bad one. It's always best if you can try before you buy.

Thanks guys, I'll keep looking. I'm in no hurry as I already have the HC and a Mk3. The Mk3 shoots extremely well even though it has a bit of a twang... so good I'm leaving it as it is. I'm interested to experience the difference with the Mk2 and I know from other rifles it can take a while to appreciate fully so a quick test is not going to satisfy me.
