S400 bolt

Tue Jan 01, 2019 3:10 pm

Just thought I'd post here as the other day someone at the range commented on just how slick the bolt is on my S400. When I got the rifle, the bolt was a bit graunchy, previous owner sensibly took the attitude if it ain't broke... Anyway, after a bit of fiddling which went as far as polishing the striker rail, I wiped the bolt clean and greased it. The improvement was immediate and after a few uses, I repeated the process, cycling the bolt and wiping clean several times before smearing a little grease onto the exposed section and working it in. After the third time, not only is the rifle smoother and easier to cock, but you can feel every part of the cocking action.

I've come to the conclusion that most of this rifle works best if left alone, but am really surprised at just what an improvement this has made.

Rob.
