Hi all

Just looking to buy a scope for my FAC xtra.

Looking at a Hawke sidewinder tactical or airmax 30 AMX.

Anyone compared the two?

Anything else to look at in the the price range.

Just sold a falcon menace ffp.

I have just received a Hawke Sidewinder 30 SF 3-12x50, if the Tactical is anything like this I think you would be more than happy. I find the glass to be really clear, I like the half mildot ret and find the 4" sidewheel fun to use. My previous MTC Mamba 3-12x44 was equally as good and the SCB ret was easy to fathom and use.... This info maybe of no use to you, but the Hawke Sidewinder is a lovely scope. Get down your local RFD and have a look I don't think you will be disapointed.

I've just made the jump from an MTC Viper (with scb ret), to the Airmax 30SF. Purely on how clear the optics were. The AMX ret on the hawke is good, and having a similar look to the SCB ret, it's easy to get used to straight away. The one thing the Airmax aces over the viper is that it comes with a large sidewheel in the box. The viper (and the sidewinder i beleive?) only comes with a 4" wheel, which is fine.

You will need mounts if you are getting the Airmax, they are not supplied.

Thanks folks.

I had a sidewinder in the past but never looked through the Airmax.

Recently took a falcon menace off of it and the airmax AMX looked good.

I had a vortex viper FFP pst on it before the Falcon but that's on a different rifle now.

Ordered today and should have it on Friday.

Looking forward to trying it out.

Cheers for the help :)

Scope arrived today.

Very impressed with the clarity of the glass for the price.

Reticle looks great too.

Looking forward to zeroing it when the wind dies down.

:)
