S400 pellet on pellet groupings fact or fiction ?

Only been shooting air rifles since December last year, up to now only at indoor 20m range, I have an S400 and HW97, I can achieve 5 pellet groupings at 5p size with both guns, my question, is this the best I can expect or can I look to get the ultimate (currently not achievable) pellet on pellet groups and if this is feasible any tips on achieving it. I have tried numerous different .177 pellets and found AA field 4.52 and JSB exacts to be the best with very little to choose between them.
Look forward to your replies.

At 20M, single hole, or "pellet on pellet" groups are very much achievable.
It's an old cliche, but practice practice practice, is deffo the way to go.

me and my 14 year old son use the labels from a label gun at 90ft and shoot the 88 out with springers, its just getting the right hold and practice ,

the labels are bright red , £199 for 5 rolls = 5000 labels free post . a label gun is £4.99, or just use the labels blank by hand,

At 20 yards pellet on pellet is very much achievable from any of the aa pcps (if you try bench rested its not a problem) . To achieve it free hand, or even supported standing etc, is a different matter but the age old adage of "practice, practice, practice" pays dividends. Keep at it and you will get there.
(As a postscript, if they're new guns you have cleaned the factory gunk out the barrel haven't you?)

Shame about the old forum not being to hand but there were a few pictures of lead lumps from members who had stacked the pellets on top of each other ..... quite artistic

it can be done. these things take time. its not just about shooting hundreds of rounds down range, but good quality practice. shoot a set a set amount rest etc, put the rifle down repeat.

very good point, let your rifle rest to let every thing in side to cool down , as friction will make things hot , things get expanded and seals get softer ,
thats why springers are so hard to get top consistency,
also give your eye a rest every few mins , walk about a bit to get your body circulating if you are on a bench rest,
then start shooting again with the same hold again and again,
shoot / rest / cooling / walk

i do not know if any one else dose this , but i always fire three shots at the ground just before i start on the targets to warm the rifle up a bit inside ( talking springers ) the only thing that will get hot on a pcp is the barrel ,

Thanks for the replies will put your suggestions into practise, knowing that single pellet hole groupings are definitely achievable gives me a goal to strive for, looking forward to getting there.
