AA S510 Extra FAC S/L Ultimate Sport- Carbine or not??

I'm about to place my order for an AA S510 Extra FAC S/L Ultimate Sporter in .22 caliber and my dealer says besides the Carbine which I was pretty sure I wanted, he also has it in regular length barrel. I didn't even know the Ultimate Sporter was available in other than the carbine because that's all I've seen reviewed.

This is Canada, and none of the guns sold here have moderators (and there's no way to legally add one), so either gun is going to be louder than what you get in England or even in the States. But at least judging from my experience with compact and regular versions of the Steyr EVO-10 match pistol, a compact version is quite a bit louder. But are there any other pros/cons I should know about to make the best decision?

Thanks very much.

It should still be shrouded and that make its crack quite tame ;)

Just had a look in A/A brochure, the S510 U/S Xtra only appears to be a rifle, there is no mention of it in carbine format, the S510 Xtra is in both rifle and carbine, but this is only in a standard stock not ultimate stock. The S510 U/S Xtra has a 19.5" barrel and it's shrouded. Rog

Not quite understanding your reply... Here's what I'm looking at: http://www.airgunsource.com/air-arms-s510-extra-fac-s-l-ultimate-sporter-carbine-22-cal/dp/2131 (Note that the moderator is not included nor is it available in Canada.)

I'm not sure what that "brochure" is that you looked at, but checking the Air Arms site - http://www.air-arms.co.uk/showroom_product/s510-ultimate-sporter - and clicking on the technical specifications section seems to indicate that the U/S is *only* a carbine... barrel length is listed at 15.5" and not the 19.5" you mention.

So, I'm confused.

And my dealer tells me they also have the U/S in full-length rifle as well (although not listed on their website).

Just looked at Airgunsource and yes that's the carbine 15.5" barrel, the one on A/A website is rifle and will have the 19.5" barrel. The carbine version in FAC is not shown in A/A brochure over here in uk, only in 12ftlb. Had another look at Airsource picture, that's not an FAC carbine, looks like 12ftlb to me, no power adjuster on it either. Rog

I'm going to confirm with AirGunSource that it's indeed the Extra FAC Carbine Ultimate Sporter. (Their website says it's the Extra FAC but your comments will make me check with them before buying.)

Geez, no, I didn't mean that one. How did you find that??? What I'd found (and referenced) was this: http://www.air-arms.co.uk/showroom_product/s510-ultimate-sporter

I see now what's going on... I'd clicked on the "Sporter" section and the Ultimate Sporter listed there IS the carbine with a 15.5" barrel. Your link is for the "High Power" section, which I hadn't checked out until you linked to it. And that seems to be the rifle, with 19.5" barrel.

So the question now is what the heck is AirGunSource offering with an AA "S510 Extra FAC S/L Ultimate Sporter Carbine .22"... And thanks to you guys here, it looks like the Extra FAC Ultimate Sporter is ONLY available in the rifle version and not carbine. ????

I wish Air Arms would list their guns together by main model name first and then sub group the variants of it. Meaning the "Ultimate Sporter" and all its variants should be in the same darn section. SIGH

with high power, carbine barrel and no moderator you will only kill one critter per day unless you can run as fast as them! BANG!

Yes, but according to the AA website, it looks like the high power Ultimate Sporter (Xtra FAC) is *ONLY* available in rifle length and not carbine. I've been trying to get confirmation of what the Canadian dealer is actually selling, but all I keep getting is their voice mail. I don't want the 12 ft lb version because I already have that.

Too bad there is no kind of moderator at all available in Canada (very illegal).
