s510 questions - biathlon lever and barrel

Thu Mar 16, 2017 7:09 pm

There doesnt seem to be any aftermarket cocking handles for the s510 - even rowan engineering who make s410 handles have none that I have seen!
Would one from an MPR Biathlon just drop in?

And there doesnt seem to be an s510 classic length, BAR and others only seem to list an s510 Carbine. Is there an s510 with a longer barrel? I'm loving my .22 s410 carbine, but looking to build up a Field target variation!

Don't know about cocking system on biathlon, but all barrels on S510s are 15.5" they only do 19.5" on the S510 FACs . Rog

Fair enough, would there be any benefit in tuning an FAC down to 12ft lbs beyond shot count?

You would have to have an FAC to be able to buy an FAC rifle, also once a rifle is on ticket they normally stay on ticket. To be honest you would be better off getting an S410 classic ie not a carbine, you should get about 90 + shots in .22 , and about 80 + in .177. Hope that helps. Rog

Does the s410 classic have anything over the s510?
Is the barrel on the classic not 15.5" as well?
Not sure how I'd be better off with an S410 classic over an s510 for target if the barrel is the same.

S410 Classic has 19.5" barrel, S410 carbine has 15.5", S510 has 15.5" inside the shroud, all S510 sub 12 ft lb have 15.5" barrels. Rog

I have just had a biathlon cocking lever made for my s510, I will try and get a few pics up over the weekend.

I have only just fitted it to the rifle today and It feels really good and makes cocking the rifle a lot easier.
Stock is not completely finished I finished the shaping and sanding today and only applied the first coat of oil on it, will hopefully get the stippling done and the hamster fitted before I take it to my local shooting club on saturday.

The biathlon lever was made by Air-fective tuning, and I can't remember how much it cost as I had other work done to the action at the same time.
